This appears to have been a very uncomfortable arrangement for you. Funny how a simple thing of wanting to teach people a language can get so out of hand. Too bad.

Unfortunately, green backs talk more than dedication does...

I don’t use platforms. Students pay a monthly subscription fee for lessons for my niche. I use Zoom

I am planning my move away from this platform, also, I really don't like Zoom (it's time limit although the lessons are between 30-55mins, depending on the student's working schedule, I teach only adults), but I am thinking about subscriptions later too...

the idea is out there.

I use the paid version and it’s worked

Works for some, I find it too cumbersome…

I prefer a simple call rather than setup..

glad it works for you.

The paid version allows screen sharing, breakout rooms etc and with consent I can record the session or part of it and send it to students. You do need time and help to use zoom well though. As you say, everyone works in their own way

Kindly again, the method I’m using is fine, students have no complaints, nor do I.

Appreciate your input, and again, glad zoom works for you.

I teach IELTS and medical English so I use screen sharing. It allows you to teach pairs and groups. All systems offer something different and it depends how you teach

unfortunately, the current platform doesn’t allow shared screening or uploading documents, which rather primitive, the IMs I use, already does all of the above, so there’s no need me uploading or using Zoom.

It is a personal preference.

Sounds like a great opportunity for a new startup that goes back to what’s best for students and tutors and creates a better learning environment. 😉
